Now available - Rose and Peony Confetti

Hi Everyone,  Following on from the funeral in which the family requested lavender as it was their mum's favourite, so I included bags of Lavender as keepsakes - I thought, what if their loved one was a gardener? loved roses? or peonies? - I looked to my own garden and thought - after my dad died, I created a Rose Garden - full of highly scented David Austin & Peter Beale Roses - this brought me comfort so why not pass that on? So I have invested in a dehydrator and I'm now offering bags of rose and peony petals in addition to the lavender already on offer. This can either ...Read More

First funeral with McCallum & Tritton Funeral Directors

Following on from my last post, I created my first bespoke tribute for McCallum & Tritton last Thursday.  It was a strange first for me, as normally, I would speak with the family direct and get to know them and background about their loved one. This time around I had no contact with the family and instead had to trust McCallum & Tritton to interpret the family's wishes to me. This was a scary prospect, what if they don't like what I make?, what if it's not what they had in mind? what if it's the wrong colour/shade? or the wrong style? There might be details that ...Read More

Fantastic news - I'm now florist of choice for McCallum & Tritton Bootle

Brilliant news today.... Went to meet the lady who runs McCallum, Tritton & Sons in Bootle today to show her my artificial flower ranges (hire or purchase) and she was blown away by the colours, the quality of the chrysanthemums used and the attention to detail in the fresh flower sprays I add.  She also loved my idea for a base coffin spray which can be adapted with fresh roses/freesia etc for hire (with the fresh flowers then gifted to family & friends). She had already decided she wanted to work with me, then I showed her my multipurpose coffin spray ideal for cremations.... ...Read More

Exciting news for flowersbydeb

Hi Everyone Some exciting news for flowersbydeb, I've entered 2 floral art competitions at Chorley Flower Show (end July/early Aug). I have chosen 2 different designs to showcase my skills - the first is a door decor design - traditionally a wreath, but could be anything that you hang from a door. In this design, I am highly likely to go down the cottage garden style with lots of foliage and UK grown garden flowers. The other design is a limited piece, were you can only use 5 of the same species and colour flower - i.e. 5 red traditional variery tulips but can add foliage - this is very c ...Read More

Happy Easter Everyone

Hi Everyone Easter is a time for family and reflection, to be grateful for all that your loved ones have given both physcially and also spiritually. I have mixed emotions at Easter - remembering all the very happy easters I had as a child with my brother, Mum & Dad. Me & my brother would always compete as to who got the most eggs, but I was definately the one who ate the most chocolate as my brother wasn't really a chocolate fiend like me - instead preferring jellies. My dad however, was worse than me - he loved chocolate and so also had to have Easter Eggs.  I remeber my d ...Read More

Cremations - love flowers but don't know what to do with them afterwards???

Hi Everyone Inspired by a few customers who were following their loved one's wishes for cremation, but wanted fresh flowers to mark the ocassion, I created the 'multifunctional coffin spray'. This coffin spray is between 4 and 5ft long and doubles as both a coffin spray for the service and tablecentres for the Celebration of life/venue afterwards.   What is also a great idea is that family & friends get to enjoy the beautiful scented flowers at home next to a picture of their lost loved one and it is a fitting reminder of the celebration of their life. So far, I ...Read More

Back to School at 50!

BLOG POST Sep 12, 2023 Back to School A new chapter for Deb — returning to education with the same energy and passion she brings to her floristry and funeral work across Merseyside. at 50! With a passion for flowers and a passion for learning, it was inevitable that I’d enrol on another course — but in true Deb fashion, not one course… but three! Starting tomorrow, I’ll be a student at Hugh Baird College again (I studied Level 2 Hairdressing there many years ago). I’ll be back in a physical classroom and spending some time working in their flori ...Read More

So who is deb? and what type of flowers?

BLOG POST Aug 9, 2023 So Who Is Deb? A personal story from Deb — the heart behind Flowersbydeb, shaped by family, loss and a commitment to helping others through meaningful funeral and memorial flowers. And What Type of Flowers? Hi, my full name is Deborah – but my dad always called me Deb. My dad died nearly five years ago and was the driving force behind me setting up Flowersbydeb. To cut a long story short, I had a good steady job for 30 years. I tried changing roles and chasing promotions, but it was always just a job – never a passion or a chosen path. When ...Read More
