Happy Easter Everyone

Easter is a time for family and reflection, to be grateful for all that your loved ones have given both physcially and also spiritually.

I have mixed emotions at Easter - remembering all the very happy easters I had as a child with my brother, Mum & Dad. Me & my brother would always compete as to who got the most eggs, but I was definately the one who ate the most chocolate as my brother wasn't really a chocolate fiend like me - instead preferring jellies. My dad however, was worse than me - he loved chocolate and so also had to have Easter Eggs. 

I remeber my dad's side of the family used to always buy me a Black Magic Egg and every year, I'd thank them politely, but complain to mum that I didn't like dark chocolate - although low & behold, it was my dad's favourite!! (sneaky!!)

Fast forward to me now in my 50's. I do not have any children of my own, so definately no grandkids either and my brother died before he managed to settle down and have kids.  So it's bitter sweet when I see all the kids getting excited for Easter Egg hunts and chocolate bunnies, wishing I had, at best - some nieces or nephews as a part of my brother to live on. But alas, it wasn't meant to be.

These days, my 'babies' are my two french bulldogs - Ozzie & Floyd and whilst they can't enjoy Easter Eggs, they can still come for Easter Roast with us at The Sparrowhawk and obviously test all the food! and get the strokes and attention from the staff and people in the restaurant, This also cheers my mum up, which in turn cheers me up.

So on that note - Everybody - what ever you are doing, enjoy some family time at Easter, Love Deb x
